Alliance-member agency Kinship Center, part of the Seneca Family of Agencies, is presenting “ACT: An Adoption and Permanency Curriculum for Service Providers Working with Youth” in Eight Sessions, Feb. 14 through May 24, 2017. The training will be held at the Kinship Center offices, 124 River Road in Salinas.

ACT is a comprehensive curriculum that provides intensive practice and training to adoption and permanency professionals and community based service providers. The curriculum expands the application of techniques and knowledge from related fields, such as education and neurobiology, to the practice of adoption, permanency, and relative guardianship.

ACT is designed to advance and inform adoption practice, expand the pool of qualified permanency professionals available to families, integrate permanency practice across an array of programs, and engage and retain qualified staff in adoption and post-permanency services. The curriculum transmits permanency competency to individuals and to agency staff groups seeking to improve and standardize their programs with shared, quality knowledge and a commitment to integrated practice principles.

The core curriculum for Kinship Center’s ACT was developed in 1992 and has been refined and field-tested with more than 7,000 professionals over 20 years.

The session and dates are:

Session 1, Feb. 14: Permanence in Context

Session 2, Feb. 15: The Core Issues

Session 3, March 14: The Art and Science of Attachment

Session 4, March 15: A Developmental Perspective

Session 5, April 18: Family Constellation Challenges

Session 6, April 19: Supporting the Permanent Family
