DHCS Recognizes Organizations for Contributions to Youth Mental Health

Sacramento, CA – The California Alliance of Child and Family Services (CA Alliance) is proud to announce that 25 of its members have been awarded grants by the Department of Health Care Services (DHCS) to support the mental health and well-being of children, youth, and young adults across the state. These grants, totaling $150 million, are part of Governor Gavin Newsom's Master Plan for Kids' Mental Health, aimed at enhancing the mental wellness of California's youth population.

The CA Alliance extends its heartfelt congratulations to the following member organizations for their outstanding contributions to youth mental health.

Round 2 Grants: Trauma-Informed Programs and Practices. These grants aredesigned to address the impact of trauma and support the resilience of children and youth by mitigating the adverse effects of adverse childhood experiences (ACEs).

Round 4: Youth-Driven Programs​. These grants are designed toexpand youth-driven community center programs, where young people can access a variety of services and supports in a single location, and other youth-led practices.

The CA Alliance applauds the dedication of these organizations in addressing the mental health crisis among youth and ensuring comprehensive services for California's children and families.

Governor Newsom emphasized the importance of addressing the mental health challenges faced by California's children in his official statement. He stated, "Recognizing the struggles that children across California encounter in dealing with mental health issues, we are actively establishing the essential support systems within their schools and communities. These investments are translating into tangible results through the efforts of a diverse workforce that is reaching every corner of our state. Consequently, we are proud to introduce a groundbreaking program aimed at recruiting coaches in this field, dedicated to enhancing the well-being of all children and young adults."
