The 2014 EDGY Conference will be held Nov. 14 at Sportsman’s Lounge in Studio City, Calif., and organizers are looking for workshop proposals. EDGY is a one-day conference, presented by Alliance-member agency Penny Lane Centers, dedicated to evolving practices for professionals who work with GLBTQ (Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgender and Questioning) youth and families.

Each year Penny Lane strives to bring together a variety of experts to share their knowledge and experiences working in this field. EDGY provides an opportunity for government agencies, social service providers, mental health professionals, and families to learn how to create a supportive environment for youth and families through initiatives, education and enlightenment.

Workshop Guidelines

·     Workshop Topics may encompass any aspect of lesbian, gay, bisexual, same gender loving, transgender, intersex, queer, questioning, or ally issues specifically or within a broader social justice context.

·     All workshops will be 45 minutes of presentation with 15 minutes of Q&A to follow.

·     EDGY prides itself on having interactive breakout sessions so that all attendees can participate and invest in the topic(s). Presenters are asked to take this in to consideration when putting together their proposal and/or presentation.

·     Presenters are strongly encouraged to have some sort of “take away” that attendees can take back to their agencies and use as a resource.

Workshop proposals are due by July 30. For details, go to!submit-a-proposal/cb9w.
