Save Medicaid!

The House Energy and Commerce Committee is meeting tomorrow to mark up their legislation aimed at significantly reducing federal government spending.

Late last night, House leadership released text of the legislation, which proposes devastating cuts to Medicaid — a lifeline for over 90 million Americans. These cuts threaten the health and economic stability of individuals experiencing mental health or substance use disorder challenges, including children, older adults, and families across the country.

As per their budget instructions, the House Energy and Commerce Committee is looking to cut $880 billion in funding - under the draft legislation, roughly $715 billion of this would come from changes to Medicaid.

We need to contact our Senators and Representatives ASAP to urge them to vote NO on this harmful legislation. Reducing federal Medicaid spending by hundreds of billions of dollars would be devastating. Not only would people lose access to lifesaving mental health and substance use disorder care, but programs and organizations could face staff layoffs and closure.
