Senator Susan Rubio has introduced Senate Bill 531 (SB 531)
Senator Susan Rubio has introduced Senate Bill 531 (SB 531), an initiative to expand mental health education in California schools. This bill ensures that all students in grades 1-12 receive age-appropriate mental health education, equipping them with the knowledge and tools to recognize distress, reduce stigma, and seek support before a crisis escalates.
As a proud co-sponsor of this bill alongside NAMI, The Children's Partnership, the California Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry - Calacap, and the National Center for Youth Law, we believe that mental health education is as essential as reading and math for our students’ success.
Join us in supporting SB 531 to empower our youth, reduce stigma, and ensure every young person has access to the knowledge and resources they need to thrive.
