James Freeman

Senior Trainer, Open Doors

James Freeman serves as Senior Trainer with the Open Doors program, equipping adults to connect and engage with young people around substance use and other behavioral health concerns. He has a MA in Organizational Leadership and brings over 30 years of experience in the child and youth care field, spanning direct practice, supervision, and senior leadership roles.

James has contributed to the development of the field and professional standards in human services through training, consultation, and workforce development initiatives.

He has authored and edited numerous publications and is a recipient of the National Staff Development and Training Association’s Career Achievement Award. He has also served on international boards, including the Association for Child and Youth Care Practice and the Association of Children’s Residential and Community Services.
