Addison Peterson, MPA
Senior Policy Analyst, Education
Addison is a passionate advocate and government affairs leader dedicated to expanding opportunity and advancing equitable public policy across California. He has led statewide advocacy efforts that connect communities, and policymakers to build a more sustainable and climate-resilient food system. His work has helped shape major statewide initiatives, including contributing to the placement of Proposition 4 (2024)—the Climate Bond—on the ballot and advancing reforms that increase long-term investment in environmental programs. Previously, at the California Association for Micro Enterprise Opportunity (CAMEO), Addison championed small business owners during the pandemic—organizing coalitions, elevating their voices in the Legislature, and helping secure access to critical relief funding during one of the most challenging economic periods in recent history.
At the heart of Addison’s career is a commitment to ensuring that policy reflects the lived experiences of the people it impacts. His early work in the California State Assembly—where he helped advance AB 288 to expand college access for high school students—to his leadership at the University of California improving pathways for students across the state, he has consistently focused on breaking down systemic barriers. Whether advising nonprofits, building coalitions, or engaging directly with lawmakers, Addison brings a people-centered approach to advocacy—grounded in equity, collaboration, and results. He holds a Master of Public Administration from the University of San Francisco and a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from California State University, Los Angeles.
