Classrooms and Communities: How School-CBO Partnerships Are Transforming Youth Mental Health

Our new report, Classrooms and Communities, explores how California schools and community-based organizations (CBOs) are partnering to meet the growing mental health needs of youth. Based on interviews with 13 CBOs, the research highlights effective strategies—from trauma-informed approaches to discipline to on-campus crisis response—while also identifying key systemic challenges such as unsustainable CYBHI reimbursement rates and service gaps in small districts. With 64% of teachers seeking trauma training, the findings provide a roadmap for strengthening school–CBO collaborations statewide.
